Holmes and Watson: The Farewell Tour at the Space, Edinburgh

Tristan will direct "Holmes and Watson: The Farewell Tour" for this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The play, written by Stuart Fortey and produced by David Adkin will play at the The Space, Edinburgh at 8.25pm daily from the 15th-27th of August.

A national tour is then planned for Spring 2017.

The play will feature Adrian Banks as Sherlock Holmes and Liam Nooney as Dr Watson and will be rehearsed in Oxfordshire in the weeks leading up to the festival. There will be preview performances at several Oxfordshire venues in July, to be announced shortly.

The play is a slapstick farce, very much in keeping with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original Victorian setting, featuring all of the intrigue and excitement you'd expect from the classic stories, as well as music of the period, some daring escapades and shocking new light cast on famous Holmes cases...

Tristan Jackson-Pate

My name is Tristan Jackson-Pate and I am a theatre maker.

I make theatre that’s hopeful and curious about the world, rooted in the belief that stories can change the way we see it.

Since 2015, I’ve been Artistic Director of the award-winning People’s Theatre Collective, where much of my work has focused on creating theatre with and for young people. I’ve also worked with wonderful organisations including Oxford Playhouse, Creation Theatre and Nottingham Playhouse. My productions have been seen on over 100 stages across the UK.

I’m an Associate Artist with Royal & Derngate, Human Story Theatre and a Mentor Director for National Theatre Connections. In 2026 I was the proud recipient of the Peggy Ramsay Foundation grant for Playwriting.

As a facilitator I aim to create inclusive spaces that empower participants to discover their potential regardless of background. A drive to reduce inequality and increase opportunity underpins my work in theatre and with the charities Arts Emergency and Sophie's Silver Lining Fund.
